Boerne Performing Arts! Visual & Performing Arts Scholarships

Boerne Performing Arts and Majestic Ranch Arts Foundation are pleased to announce an annual scholarship program that will benefit local students who are pursuing careers in the fine arts.

Promoting all aspects of a fine arts program, the awards will each be in the amount of $5,000.

CRITERIA FOR CONSIDERATION

Criteria to be considered for these scholarships is as follows:

  • Student must be in their senior year of high school (2017-2018), planning to pursue a degree in Fine Arts at a college, university or fine arts school.
  • Student must be a resident of OR attending high school in the following counties: Kendall, Bandera, Gillespie
  • Student must be accepted and enrolled in a fine arts program at a college, university or fine arts school in the fall of 2018.
  • Students must submit the following for consideration:
    – Completed application form (3 pages)
    – High School Transcripts (Attachment 1)
    – One page typed bio (Attachment 2)
    – Two Letters of Recommendation (Attachments 3-4)
    – Present a jury of artwork (visual arts scholarship) or Perform an audition (performing arts scholarship)
  • All winners selected by the Boerne Performing Arts Scholarship Committee will be final.
  • The scholarships are non-renewable.
  • All scholarship checks will be mailed directly to the college, university or fine arts school.
  • It is the responsibility of the applicant to complete all required materials by the deadlines.

Completion of two parts will be required to be considered for the scholarship.
Part I: Application Form (Due March 31, 2018)
Part II: Audition/Jury (April 7, 2018)

All applicants will be notified of the scholarship winners within one week following Part II of the application.


SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

Part One:
Please complete the application using the online form or by downloading/printing the PDF.  Boerne Performing Arts must receive your completed application form along with required attachments no later than March 31, 2018. Part Two:
Once the completed application packets are received, individual times will be assigned for the jury/audition.
The date scheduled for these juries/auditions is:

  • Saturday, April 7, 2018.

Juries/Auditions will be held at the following location:

  • First Baptist Church of Boerne, 631 S. School Street, Boerne, TX 78006

Visual Arts Applicants:

  • Jury set-ups will begin at 9:00am. Students are allocated 60 minutes total time for set-up of their artwork.
  • Artwork display should include a minimum of three varied examples representative of their artwork. Contrasting artwork is encouraged that will demonstrate various elements of artistic expression.
  • The following will be provided for each student: table and black tablecloth.
  • Please arrive promptly at 9:00am to receive your maximum set-up time.
  • Judges will view artwork from 10:00am – 11:00am
  • Artwork must be removed between 11:00am and 12:00noon.

Performing Arts Applicants:

  • Auditions will begin at 9:30am. Students are allocated 15 minutes total time for set-up and performance.
  • Students will be notified of their individual audition time by email or by phone no later than five days prior to the audition.
  • Audition performances should include two contrasting movements or selections, each a minimum of 2 minutes in length. Students are encouraged to perform by memory, but it is not required.
  • The following will be provided for each student:  char, music stand, piano, and CD player.
  • Students must provide their own accompaniment (either a pianist or a CD) if one is written.
  • Please arrive prior to your assigned audition time.  A warm-up room for your use will be available 15 minutes prior to your audition.
  • Please bring three copies of your music for the judges (with measures numbered).
